Hospice

Mary Washington Hospice provides palliative and hospice care.  The earlier hospice care begins, the more meaningful and beneficial the support is for patients and their caregivers. Services can start as soon as a patient is given information that a disease has reached the point when care is no longer aimed at a cure; comfort becomes the goal.  Care can be provided in patient home, the hospital, assisted living or nursing home.  Services include pain management and grief counseling. We provide social workers and spiritual care who provide emotional and spiritual counseling to patients and families.

Support services are available, including arrangements for medical equipment and supplies, medications for symptom management, practical and emotional support and access to a nurse 24 hours a day.
