Volunteer opportunities at Blue Ridge Hospice include:
Patient/Family Support - provide one-on-one emotional support and companionship to patients and their families through friendly visits, assistance with errands or a life review.
Music Companionship - work closely with Blue Ridge Hospice music therapists to provide comfort and companionship for patients. No formal music training is required.
Pet Therapy Volunteers - provide companionship to patients and family members through scheduled pet visits. Pets participating in the Pet Therapy Volunteer Program must meet specific criteria prior to their first visit.
Care Center Cooks – prepare occasional home-cooked meals for the patients and visiting family members in the Inpatient Care Center
Administrative Support – assist in the office with the switchboard, filing, copying, data entry, and medical records.
Thrift Shops – assist with receiving, sorting, and displaying donated items as well as assisting customers. Thrift Shops are located in Winchester, Berryville, Stephens City, and Purcellville.
Individuals, 16 and older, will be trained to provide supportive services for patients, administrative assistance and to fill other volunteer roles. The opportunities are long-term/ongoing. Continuing education may be required for specific duties
