Primeplus, Norfolk Senior Center, Adult Day Services

Adult Day Services by Norfolk Senior Center, trading as Primeplus provides non-medical care, supervision, guidance and/or training for sustaining the activities of daily living. This model is structured for comprehensive programs that provide individuals with socialization, supervision, monitoring and personal care in a supervised setting. 

Other Activities/Services can include but not limited: 

• -Therapeutic Activities: Physical, Social, Cognitive and Creative activities designed to limit disabilities and maximize strengths, Art and Music therapy, Exercise and Wellness
• -Nutritious family style meals and Nutrition education
• -Individual/Family/Group Caregiver Support Counseling
• -Information and Referrals
• -Transportation - Supervised, door to door transportation to and from the program, if needed

The Social Model is an important component of the Adult Day Services community-based service-delivery system. By providing community-based services means having high-quality services accessible to families in the least restrictive setting possible. To meet the needs of the aging South Hampton Roads community we provide a nurturing environment for participants with fixed incomes and/or low to moderate income in our caregiver respite program, thereby providing much-needed respite for caregivers, allowing them to maintain employment and tend to their own needs as well as the needs of their other family members.​

Research demonstrates that caregivers who experience stress and burden are more likely to “burn out” and, thus, place their loved ones in an institution prematurely.  Our Adult Day Services provides care during the day for impaired or frail adults in a group setting away from their individual homes.  Capacity is 35
