Who We Are
Inova Fairfax Hospital offers an innovative free program designed to help hospitalized older frail adults during their hospital stay. Hospitalized patients are visited three times a day during their hospital stay by volunteers, seven days a week to prevent mental and physical decline. Assistance is offered with meals, walking, stress reduction, sleep promotion, and cognitive stimulation. Translator phones are available.
Volunteers are carefully trained to give bedside attention to lessen or prevent what is known as delirium and to keep hospitalized patients from declining mentally and physically.

Other Eligibility Criteria
Anyone age 70 or older and on a HELP unit who meets the inclusion criteria listed on the website under How To Obtain a HELP volunteer. HELP services are provided at no charge.
