Insurance Counseling, Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP)

The Fairfax Area Agency on Aging offers a range of services to support older adults, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities in Fairfax County and the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church. These services are made possible through funding from Federal, state, and local sources. While some programs may have eligibility requirements, many are available at no cost or on a sliding scale fee basis.

One notable program provided by the agency is the Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP). VICAP offers free, confidential counseling to individuals with Medicare, helping them navigate various aspects of the program such as Medicare Part D, Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap), and understanding their Medicare benefits overall. Counseling sessions can be conducted over the phone or virtually, ensuring accessibility for clients.

VICAP counselors are unbiased and do not engage in selling insurance or receiving commissions. Their primary focus is on providing objective guidance and support to individuals seeking assistance with Medicare-related issues.
