Adult Protective Services (APS)

The Bath Department of Social Services receives and investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults aged 60 and over and incapacitated adults over 18 years of age. Provides services when persons are found to be in need of protective services. The program sees to protect an adult's life, health, and property.

The program also is intended to prevent abuse, neglect, or exploitation of an adult; relieve a crisis resulting from illness, violence, loss of housing, etc.; maintain the adult's ability to manage as independently as possible; prevent, delay and/or reduce inappropriate institutionalization; assist when necessary with appropriate placements.

Screening for individuals in the community, for personal care, adult care residence, and nursing facility placements.
