Who We Are
The Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) advocates for the needs of Virginia's aging population. The Division provides information about the growth of Virginia's older population, especially the Baby Boom generation, the impact on services and programs. The Department advocates for "aging friendly" communities and works with the Governor, the Secretary of Health and Human Resources, and the General Assembly to prepare communities for the future.
The Department provides information and counseling about issues related to aging and long-term care in Virginia. Callers may be provided with publications at no-cost. Callers may also be referred to their local Area Agency on Aging.
