Who We Are
Volunteers are needed to tutor; tutor training is provided and no prior teaching experience or foreign language is required. The volunteer may choose to tutor in the basic literacy program or the English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) program. Set your own schedule; meet with your learner for about 2 hours each week in a public place such as one of the local libraries.
The tutor training workshops are held several times a year. Call for the date and time for the next training workshop. The office is not wheelchair accessible; however, if any wheelchair-bound person desires to be trained, accommodation will be made.
The office is located on the 3rd floor of the Roanoke city Main Library in downtown Roanoke.
