Emergency Home Repair

Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens (AASC) offers an emergency home repair program.
Emergency Home Repair provides qualified seniors with minor home repair and modifications necessary to attain a safe living environment. It provides limited funding for materials, but in most cases, seniors are responsible for finding the labor to make the repairs.  Repairs can include plumbing, structural repairs, electrical, roof and heating system repairs; wheelchair ramps, hand railings and grab bars, kitchen and bathroom adaptations and doorway widening.

 Repairs needed must remove an imminent health and safety hazard, such as a bad roof leak or a rotten bathroom floor. It also covers the building of wheelchair ramps.
