Who We Are

Norfolk Sheriff's office participates in TRIAD. TRIAD is a partnership between the Norfolk Sheriff's Office, Norfolk Police Department,  the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) and senior citizens in the community. Together we are working to enhance the quality of life of senior citizens in Norfolk, through crime prevention and education, as well as, health and safety awareness.

TRIAD is cooperation between law enforcement agencies and senior citizens. TRIAD strives to reduce criminal victimization of older people. TRIAD assesses the needs and concerns of older citizens. TRIAD leads to a broad dialog on safety and security issues.

The engine that drives TRIAD is the S.A.L.T. Council (Seniors And Law Enforcement Together). The S.A.L.T. Council assess and addresses the needs of the elderly in the community by determining the needs and concerns and collaboratively developing ways in which to meet those needs. The S.A.L.T. Council is the application of that concept, the action and governing arm of the TRIAD.

All senior citizens in the city of Norfolk are invited to attend monthly meetings held the 4th Tuesday of every month (except December) at Norfolk Fitness and Wellness Center 7300 Newport Ave, at 2pm. Light refreshments are served, and a guest speaker is on hand to provide much needed information, geared to the 55 year and older population.

Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month (except July and August) at the Norfolk Senior Center.  Call for more information.
