Who We Are

Arlington Human Rights Commission receives and investigates complaints of discrimination.  Discrimination can be in areas of employment, housing, public accommodation (hotels, restaurants, stores), credit, private education, and commercial real estate. Basis of discrimination includes age, sex, race, nationality, religion, disability, sexual orientation, and marital status.

If discrimination is found, investigators attempt to resolve disputes through negotiation and settlement. If the resolution is not possible, investigators refer the matter to the Human Rights Commission for a public hearing. If the respondent disputes Commission findings, the matter is referred to the courts.
