Who We Are

The United Way of Henry County and Martinsville raises resources for human service needs in the community. Thousands are helped because of ordinary people who give through the United Way Campaign.

Each year, dozens of volunteers join United Way to help decide how the dollars raised in its Annual Campaign should be allocated. These volunteers work tirelessly to read proposals, understand financial statements and visit local organizations that have applied for United Way Funding. After much debate, discussion, and endless hours invested, the volunteers present their recommendations to the United Way Board of Directors for approval.  Programs supported are in the areas of education, income and health.

The United Way of Henry County and Martinsville also sponsors Community Conversations.  Problems in the community cannot be solved without a deep understanding of the community itself.  This kind of knowledge only comes from conversations with the diverse people who live, work and play in the community.  United Way is holding these community conversations.  They believe that the people of the community are an integral part of creating change and a lasting impact.  Your input is invaluable to their efforts.  Visit the website to locate where the community conversations will be held.
