Who We Are

The Virginia Department of Social Services Adult Services Program assists older adults or adults with disabilities who need services or support to enhance self-sufficiency and improve their quality of life.  Benefits offered may include the determination of Cardinal Care Medicaid eligibility.  Cardinal Care Medicaid is the federally funded medical care program for Virginia individuals who are elderly, blind, disabled, dependent children, and pregnant women.  The program offers medical coverage for doctor visits, emergency room visits, hospitalization, prescriptions, medical supplies and equipment, nursing home costs, and home health care.  The level and scope of coverage vary.
