Who We Are
The Fairfax Area Agency on Aging offers a range of services to support older adults, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities in Fairfax County and the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church. These services are made possible through funding from Federal, state, and local sources. While some programs may have eligibility requirements, many are available at no cost or on a sliding scale fee basis.
The Volunteer Solutions program works to address the diverse needs of older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers in the community, relying on the dedication and support of volunteers to make a positive impact on the lives of those they serve.
Volunteers play a crucial role in providing various services aimed at supporting individuals to maintain their independence. These services can include tasks like household chores, grocery shopping, minor home repairs, friendly visits, phone calls, and transportation assistance. Additionally, volunteers can contribute by providing program support in an office setting.
Another notable volunteer opportunity provided by the agency is through Fairfax Pets on Wheels (FPOW), where volunteers engage in pet visitation to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. These visits can bring comfort and joy to residents, enhancing their quality of life.
