Wise County Department of Social Services can provide information about community resources.  The Department is one of 120 local department of social services in Virginia. Local department of social services provide programs for disabled or elderly adults, families and children. Services are provided through Adult Services, Adult Protective Services, Information and Referral, Child Protective Services, Foster Care for Children, Adoptive and Foster Home studies, and court-ordered home studies. Provides eligibility determination for Food stamps, Fuel and Cooling Assistance, Medicaid, State/Local Hospitalization, Auxiliary Grants, and General Relief.
