TOPS (Seniors On The Go, Taxicab Subsidy, Dial A Ride)

Seniors On-The-Go!, TaxiAccess, and Dial-A-Ride programs are now under one program called TOPS (Transportation Options Programs and Services).  The paper vouchers that were previously issued have been replaced by a transportation debit card. You will still be able to use your subsidized funds for taxi services, but you will now be able to access other transportation options.

There is new program eligibility. An individual must be a resident of Fairfax City, Fairfax County, or Falls Church. In addition one of the following criteria must be met: 50 years of age or older, with an annual income of $50,000 or less per household;  or registered user of MetroAccess; or recipient of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), or annual income that meets the 225% federal poverty levels by household size.

A participant of TOPS is eligible for two subsidies per year (one subsidy every six months). Each subsidy will provide $100 in benefits at a cost to the participant of $20.

An Online Application is available or you can request an application be mailed to you. 

Transportation options have been expanded to the following: Taxicabs; Rideshare services (Uber and Lyft); Public Transportation: bus and rail via SmarTrip card; and Capital BikeShare rentals.
