Hospice Care

VITAS Innovative Hospice Care cares for adult and pediatric patients with a wide range of life-limiting illnesses, including cancer, stroke, heart disease, lung disease, liver disease, kidney disease, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Alzheimer’s and AIDS. When medical treatments can no longer cure a disease, VITAS’ team of hospice professionals still can do a great deal to control pain, reduce anxiety and offer needed spiritual and emotional support to patients and their families. Hospice services are provided wherever people with life-limiting illness reside and could benefit from hospice care:
 

• Patients’ homes
• Dedicated inpatient hospice units
• Hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living communities and residential care facilities

VITAS services are coordinated with the patient’s physician and provided during regularly scheduled visits by hospice team members to manage the patient’s care. If a crisis should arise, VITAS is able to respond 24/7. VITAS also provides a continuum of other palliative services to complement traditional hospice care, helping patients and families clarify their care goals and achieve comfort and symptom relief.
