ACTS Bus Transportation

The Altavista Community Transit System (ACTS), is sponsored by the Town of Altavista with assistance from the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation. They offer individuals of all ages a deviated fixed-route service that includes the town of Alta Vista and offers a 3/4 mile deviation. The service operates Monday through Friday 8 am until 6 pm and Saturday 9 am until 2 pm.  Summer hours are Monday through Friday 8 am until 8 pm and Saturday 9 am until 4 pm.

Individuals may request the bus to deviate up to ¾ mile off its route to make pick-ups or drop-offs. This service requires a 24-hour advanced notice and can be scheduled by calling (434) 369-5001.  Brochures detailing the route and schedule are available at Town Hall and each bus stop.

A fare of fifty cents $0.50 per trip is charged and must be paid. Exact change is required and can be accepted through tokens, monthly passes, and punch cards, all available for purchase through Town Hall.
